The Gatlinburg Sky Lift is welcoming visitors once again! The Sky Lift attraction originally opened in 1954, but has recently been closed due to reconstruction.
The new Gatlinburg Sky Lift is a little bit different than the Sky Lift you may remember. The new ride has 92 chairs and each chair can seat up to 3 people! In addition, the Sky Lift is a bit taller than before, so you will actually reach about 10 feet taller at the highest point of the ride.
You don’t want to miss the views from the Gatlinburg Sky Lift! You’ll get views of the Great Smoky Mountains as well as views of downtown Gatlinburg.
The great thing about this ride is that you can ride during the daytime or after the sun sets at night. If you want to experience both views, we recommend purchasing the Unlimited Tickets.
For now, the Gatlinburg Sky Lift is a continuous ride up and down the mountain. The Gatlinburg Sky Deck is set to reopen in fall 2018. When it opens, you’ll be able to get off of the chair at the top of the ride where you can take more pictures or explore the gift shop. We have heard they are even adding a restaurant at the Sky Deck, so you will be able to take in the beautiful views while you enjoy a meal.
