8 Things to Do on a Rainy Day in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge

A little rain is nothing to worry about when you vacation in the Smokies! 1. Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies

Voted the #2 aquarium in the nation by the readers of USA Today, Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies is a can’t-miss stop for any vacation in Gatlinburg. This hugely popular attraction is home to over 10,000 beautiful sea creatures from around the globe. Highlights of the aquarium include the Penguin Playhouse, Shark Lagoon, Touch-A-Ray Bay, and Ripley’s Glass Bottom Boat Adventure.

2. Hollywood Star Cars Museum

Film and TV buffs are sure to love the Hollywood Star Cars Museum ! Located right on the Parkway in Gatlinburg, this unique attraction showcases some of the most iconic vehicles to ever grace the silver and small screens. Famous cars in the collection include the DeLorean from Back to the Future, the Drag-u-la from The Munsters, the Jalopy from The Beverly Hillbillies, and two different Batmobiles (Adam West’s and Michael Keaton’s).

3. Gatlin’s

Gatlin’s offers a number of fun indoor activities that are perfect for families. Guests can play a round of blacklight mini golf, shoot it out in the laser tag arena, go for a whirl in bumper cars, or navigate a Mission Impossible-style laser maze. Gatlin’s is also home to three Escape Games, in which guests are “locked” in a room and must complete a series of themed challenges to get out.

4. Arcadia

Visiting Arcadia is another one of our favorite things to do on a rainy day in Gatlinburg. Situated at the base of the Gatlinburg Space Needle, this 25,000 square foot arcade has over 100 awesome games to enjoy. Before you leave, remember to cash in your tickets at the redemption center so you can take home a great prize!

5. Pigeon Forge Snow

Pigeon Forge Snow is a one-of-a-kind indoor attraction where it is winter all year round! Guests can enjoy a thrilling multi-lane snow tubing course and a special SnowPlay area for building snowmen, making snow angels, and having snowball fights. Even though Pigeon Forge Snow is covered with fresh powder, the temperature is kept at a balmy 65 – 70 degrees.

6. WonderWorks

WonderWorks is an amazing indoor amusement park located right on the Pigeon Forge Parkway! Visitors will have the chance to explore over 100 interactive exhibits themed around four different zones: the Disaster Zone, Challenge Zone, Space Zone, and Wonder Zone. Highlights of the attraction include a bed of nails that you can lie down on, a rock climbing wall, an indoor ropes course, a ball that you can control with your mind, and giant piano keys.

7. MagiQuest

MagiQuest is home to four different indoor attractions that are ideal for a rainy day. The signature MagiQuest game is a fantasy role-playing adventure where guests use magic wands and their wits to fight dragons, cast spells, and find hidden treasure. The MagiQuest building also features the world’s largest mirror maze, a pirate-themed blacklight mini golf course, and a heist-themed laser challenge.

8. Titanic Museum Attraction

The Titanic Museum Attraction transports visitors back to 1912, when the famous ocean liner embarked on its disastrous maiden voyage. When you come aboard the ship, you’ll see over 400 artifacts that were recovered from the RMS Titanic, full-scale re-creations of rooms on the ocean liner, and a variety of interactive exhibits. Guests will have the chance to touch an iceberg, climb the breathtaking Grand Staircase, and “steer” the ship.
