The slopes are typically open mid-December to early March, though the exact dates are determined by the weather. When you purchase a Ski Area Ticket, you’ll have unlimited access to all open ski slopes and lifts for the duration of your session. Ober Mountain has a number of trails to explore, and they vary from easy to difficult. If you don’t have your own skis, snowboards, or snowsport clothing, don’t worry! You can rent the equipment you need from Ober Mountain to use during your session. If you’re new to snowsports, you can sign up for ski or snowboard lessons to learn from expert training professionals. 2. Ober Mountain Snow Tubing
Another thrilling snowsport at Ober Mountain is snow tubing. To get to the top of the tubing hill, you will ride the Magic Carpet, so no climbing is necessary. Once at the top, you’ll get in your tube and race down the lane at an exciting speed. Because there are multiple side-by-side lanes, you can race your friends and family members to see who’s the fastest! The tubing hill is 350 feet long with a total drop of 50 feet, making this a thrilling ride across the snow. Each snow tubing session is 90 minutes long, and you can ride down the tubing hill as many times as you would like during your session. This gives you plenty of time to fully enjoy the fun and excitement of snow tubing!
3. The Snow Zone at Ober Mountain
No winter is complete without getting the chance to play around in some snow! The Snow Zone at Ober Mountain is an area where kids of all ages can play in the snow and enjoy all the excitement it brings. The Snow Zone is open during ski season and provides a space where guests can spend time soaking up all the fun of a snow day. You can make snow angels, build snowmen, and anything else your imagination can come up with. Just be aware that no snowball throwing is allowed due to the potential for injuries. The Snow Zone is free with a current Ski Area Ticket, or you can purchase a Snow Zone ticket separately.
4. Ice Skating
Do you want to enjoy winter fun without being outside in the cold? Ober Mountain offers indoor ice skating all year long, including the winter months! All skill levels are welcome to rent a pair of skates and glide around the ice arena. There is a handrail around the perimeter of the rink to help beginners keep their balance if needed. You can find the indoor ice arena at the top of Ober Mountain in the enclosed mall. On select days you can also hit the ice in an Ice Bumper Car, which is a colorful tube with wheels and a motor that allow you to navigate your way around the ice.
5. Ober’s Tennessee Flyer Mountain Coaster
If you’re looking for a unique way to experience the beautiful winter scenery, take a ride on Ober’s Tennessee Flyer Mountain Coaster. This coaster starts with a 1,000-foot ride to the top of the mountainside, giving you a chance to relax and take in the views. When you reach the top, you then take control of your speed as your cart zip along the coaster track. The track is 2,750 feet long and has turns, corkscrews, dips, and more. If you’re looking for a thrilling ride, you can race down the track at speeds up to 25 miles per hour. Or, you can use the brake to take your time on a leisurely ride downhill.
