blaze. Around 2 p.m., more officials were called to assist. As of this afternoon, there were at least four firetrucks in the area controlling the flames.
According to WBIR, the fire is near Dollywood, off of Walker Trail. As of now, approximately 20-30 buildings, homes and cabins in Pigeon Forge have been evacuated. Fire officials are evacuating these areas as a precaution, to keep visitors and homeowners as safe as possible. No buildings, homes or cabins have been harmed at this time. The officials are expected to continue to evacuate nearby areas in order to keep everyone safe.
Officials are concerned about the current weather conditions in Pigeon Forge. The upper elevations in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park has been experiencing freezing temperatures, extreme snow and ice throughout the weekend. While a cold front is on the way into the area, Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg have remained fairly clear and dry. These dry, and very windy, conditions are causing concern that the fire may spread.
Fortunately, our cabins are not involved in the brush fire. We will continue to keep you up to date regarding the brush fire in Pigeon Forge. For the latest information, you can take a look at our Facebook page . Remember to check back to this post for more information as it becomes available.
