2. The Museum is Home to the World’s Largest LEGO Titanic

The Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge Tennessee is displaying the world’s largest LEGO replica of the RMS Titanic. Made from 56,000 bricks, the LEGO ship is 26 feet long and was built completely to scale. This one-of-a-kind piece of art was the passion project of Brynjar Karl Birgisson, an Icelandic boy who was only 10 years old when he completed the LEGO ship.

Building the Titanic replica was a transformative experience for Brynjar, who has autism. When he started working on the ship he could hardly communicate with others, but now he gives interviews and presentations all around the world. Brynjar spent 700 hours over the course of 11 months working on his LEGO ship after school.

3. The Outside of the Museum is Half the Size of the RMS Titanic

As anyone who has seen the Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge from the Parkway can tell you, the attraction really looks like a ship! While some people think that the outside of the museum is just as large as the real RMS Titanic, it is actually half scale. However, all of the re-created rooms in the museum are full scale and appear just as they would have in 1912. The architect who designed the Titanic Museum used the RMS Titanic’s original blueprints to ensure the historical accuracy of all the rooms in the attraction.

4. The Titanic Museum’s Collection of Artifacts is Valued at $4 Million

All of the artifacts on display at the Titanic Museum were actually aboard the RMS Titanic in 1912. Some of the items were found floating in the water or on victims’ bodies, while others were carried off the ship by survivors. The Titanic Museum is home to more than 400 historic artifacts, which are cumulatively valued at $4 million.

5. Many Artifacts on Display Were Recovered by the Museum’s Owner

Believe it or not, many of the artifacts at the Titanic Museum were actually recovered by the co-owner of the attraction, John Joslyn. Way back in 1987, Joslyn co-led a $6 million expedition to the site where the Titanic sank. Joslyn’s team made 32 dives into the ship’s wreckage, an adventure that was chronicled in a special TV event called Return to Titanic…Live! This 2-hour program remains the second highest rated television documentary of all time.
