Now Open: Ole Smoky Moonshine in Pigeon Forge
What was once one of the best-kept secrets in the Smoky Mountains, moonshining has been on a steady rise for the past several years. The newest addition in this growing trend of Smoky Mountain spirits is the brand new Ole Smoky Moonshine in Pigeon Forge that recently opened.
Fittingly named ‘The Barn’, the new Pigeon Forge moonshine distillery is the second area location for Ole Smoky Moonshine. Their other location, also the original, is located in the heart of downtown Gatlinburg in what is known as the Ole Smoky Moonshine Holler .

The Island in Pigeon Forge is hands down one of the fastest growing attractions in Pigeon Forge. Here, guests will find delicious restaurants, quaint shops and a ton of exciting things to do, including the 200-foot Great Smoky Mountain Wheel. After opening its doors for the first time on October 3, 2014, the Ole Smoky Barn is just the newest addition of all the fun things that families and guests will find when they visit The Island in Pigeon Forge.
At roughly 6,000 square feet, the Ole Smoky Moonshine in Pigeon Forge is half the size of its sister store in Gatlinburg. However, just because the building isn’t as big, doesn’t mean that there will be any shortage of entertainment that Ole Smoky is known for.
In addition to selling the moonshine made on site at The Barn, owners of the new Ole Smoky Moonshine in Pigeon Forge are proud to invite guests to join them for daily live bluegrass music at the venue’s outdoor stage.
In an article on Ole Smoky Moonshine’s website, the founder of the company said that he believes the new location will help the moonshine company better serve the many visitors who come to the Smokies every year. He also continued to say that, “We’re confident that this location will become a must see for folks traveling to East Tennessee.”

Similar to the Gatlinburg location, guests will be allowed to walk past the several moonshine stills as workers are busy preparing the spirits for bottle and sale. For guests who are yet to experience the flavors of Ole Smoky Moonshine, the friendly staff will be more than happy to share a few free samples with you. If you are friendly to them, they may even let you in on a few secret recipes to enhance the taste of the shine.
Please keep in mind, you must be 21 to sample any moonshine.
