Wedding License Information

All information here is correct and up to date and provided only from the Sevier County Courthouse.

• Tennessee Residents: If you live in the state of Tennessee, you pay $98.50 for your marriage license.
• If you attend 4 hours of a premarital preparation course and present a certificate of completion your cost will be $38.50
• All Non-Residents: If you are getting married in Tennessee and obtaining a license from any other county besides Sevier, the price of a license is about $100.00 (depending on the county) . A license purchased in Sevier County only will be $38.50
• If you or your spouse has a TN driver's license and you have one from out of state you will be charged $98.50
• You may pay for your license using Visa or MasterCard, or cash if you wish.

And now for the rest:

• Both participants must be at least 18 years of age.
• Present a valid driver's license, or certified birth certificate.
• Present a social security card if not a driver's license.
• If not a United States citizen, you must present a valid passport.
• If either of you have been divorced or widowed, you will need to know the exact date that the divorce was final or date of death. If the bride has had a name change in her divorce and has not had her name changed on her drivers license, she will need to provide a certified copy of her divorce decree.
• There is no blood test.
• There is no waiting period.
• License must be used within 30 days of issuance license can be used same day applied for.
• The courthouse cannot send out applications for marriage license, both bride and groom must be present and payment is in cash, exact change is appreciated.
